Animal Cleanup & Sanitation Bio-Remediation

When a wild animal enters your home and decides to take up residence, getting rid of the animal is not as simple as just removing the animal off of the premises and hoping that it will never come back. Actually, the truth of the matter is, if an animal has nested in your attic, under your home, in a shed or in your walls, there is almost a 100% chance that the animal AND its young, will return year after year.

The reason for this is because of the animal’s “pheromones” or the scent trail that it leaves behind. Animals have a method to their madness and they also have a keen sense of smell. No matter how many times they leave your home, they will always be able to return. All they have to do is follow their noses! It’s like leaving a trail of breadcrumbs that leads right back to your house. For example, almost 99 percent of the time, if an animal is nesting in your attic or anywhere else in your home, it is probably a female and she is there for one reason and one reason only, which is to raise her young. Once her young are old enough, she and her babies will take to the streets in search of food. However, they will always be able to return to the house from which they came because of the scent trail that Mom left behind. And even after those babies are adults, they will also still be able to smell the original scent trail that was left behind, and be able to return as well. This can become a major problem for any homeowner as animals living in your attic, walls, or crawlspaces can cause thousands of dollars in damage. Rats, especially will gnaw on and chew wiring and plumbing to create nests. Some homeowners have even experienced major plumbing and flooding problems due to rodents living in and destroying their home. HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER RODENT DAMAGE! Which is why it is important to call a professional immediately if you notice any wildlife or rodent activity.

Animals will ALWAYS try to return to their nesting areas unless something is done to eradicate their scent trail. This can be done through a process called Bio-Remediation. Bio-Remediation is the process of using microbes or small organisms such as bacteria to neutralize or basically eat contaminants. This process along with Heron’s sanitization procedures will abolish odors, bacteria and pheromones that are left behind by wildlife and rodents. This will remove any scent trail, disallowing animals to find their way back into your home once and for all. It will also get rid of any adverse substances or diseases that are left behind by animals and that can be harmful to humans and pets.

Heron’s Procedure

  1. CAPTURE: If an animal is found to be on the premises, we will set safe and humane traps outside of the home to capture the animal.
  2. CLEAN: We will perform our bio-remediation and sanitization procedures. This will include the removal of feces, any contaminated insulation in the attic or any other hazardous materials that are found. Once all contaminated materials are removed, we will thoroughly and effectively sanitize and neutralize the area to kill any harmful diseases, odor and bacteria that may be left behind.
  3. EXCLUSION: Once the area is clean, we will then perform any necessary exclusion. This will include replacing any damaged insulation, performing an optional pest control treatment, sealing up any entry points or holes and repairing any other damage that was caused by the presence of the wildlife.
  4. CHECK: We will continue to check daily for any trap activity. If any wildlife is captured, they will be safely removed from the premises and released in a designated animal release zone. If we find any hurt or orphaned animals, we will safely transport them to one of our partner rehabilitation organizations for further care.
